His Egypt, Greece and Rome, Civilizations of the Ancient Mediterranean. now in its third edition, is considered a standard work on the subject and he is Historical Consultant to the prestigious Blue Guides.

This talk will focus on why he is so fascinated by the classical, medieval and Renaissance pasts of this region.
