Saxtead Artist

Rupert Thornely-Taylor

Rupert has painted occasional landscapes and animal portraits over a span of many years, but is most interested in trying to reproduce the techniques of old masters working in oil on canvas (although he more frequently does animal portraits, particularly dogs, in watercolour pencil).

He has produced a number of faithful copies of paintings by sporting artists such as J.F. Herring (illustrated), and hanging on other people’s walls are copies of paintings not only by equine artists but also by painters such as Rubens.
